I am waiting on a set of Bastognes now to use as travel wheels. It seems my ALPS and the TSA don't always get along very well and they are not easy to true while traveling.

But the Hed's are good people, and HED is a good company.

Don't even get me started on the TSA. I can't believe that someone whose last job was flipping burgers or greeting at Wal-Mart is now deciding whether or not I get to go to my airplane.

Sorry for the rant.........

My only word on the Hed wheels is that many of the older ones looked like homemade garage jobs. They may have been nice in some ways, but the workmanship was shoddy at best on some of the disc wheels I have seen. It has probably improved.

I just saw the Bastognes on the internet and they look nice.

The data Zinn says that Steve Hed reports about tri-spokes vs. disks at high yaw angles contradicts every bit of wind tunnel data that Zipp (and others) have gathered over the years.

It is interesting that the opinions differ so dramatically, but Steve's not making his conclusions up out of thin air. HED has done wind tunnel testing as well.

I guess that is why both companies have their supporters. And both companies seem to have their successes.

I wouldn't bet against Steve Hed's thinking and designs. He has been at it a long time with a long track record of success.
