Early fall Portland Velo club ride into the Columbia Gorge, up Larch Mtn or out to Cascade Locks. Lots of good options on Saturday's ride. 100+ riders in attendance. Our "usual" Saturday club rides average 80-125 riders. This shot is the descent into the Gorge from Crowne Point from west to east towards Hood River, OR.

No pics but Saturday was 50 degrees with a 25mph wind, 35mph gusts, damp, cloudy. Got in about 2 hours on the tandem on gravel and I was whipped. It had me wondering if I could survive the upcoming 100 miler. I was literally riding on the wrong side of the road for a while (no traffic) trying to get a tiny bit of shelter from the un-harvested crops. Back home we grilled some organic beef burgers with Stilton cheese on top, fresh from the garden cucumber salad, and opened a Mikkaler IPA. Seemed like a fair reward.

Sunday was much better. 4 hours of gravel on the tandem. Lumpy, mild winds, 60 degrees. Perfect weather for a day on the gravels. The river is up due to recent rains so Mrs TR vetoed the river crossing and we rode the highway to get around it. It would have been up past mid thigh which proves that she has more common sense than I do. Back home, we split a bomber of Collaboration #4 Saison while waiting on the stuffed peppers to cook. I think I need to go buy more bottles.

Bike MS: Jack and Back event. First time participant, well organized. Dinner and drinks on the Hill overlooking Jack Daniel Distillery Saturday evening, coupled with nice sunset made for a good evening. Too bad I cannot get my photo to load w/o it flipping 90 degrees on me.

Coyote choir at 1am woke me up, tent camp noises plus my aches and pains kept me up. 35 degrees Sunday morning made for a brisk first 20 miles.

I don't have any pictures, but I had nice rides on Friday and Sunday up to Nyack with a pal on my team. Wore bibs and a light jersey on Friday afternoon, but had to pull out the base layer, arm warmers, leg warmers, vest, wool socks and hat for Sunday morning's ride. Felt like the first serious day of fall/winter, but I like 45-50 or so degree riding well enough (just not 25 degrees), so it was a good weekend. Poured like crazy on Saturday, so I did an hour on the trainer.

And man, it's seeming more and more like I need to move to the PNW, your picture looks too perfect.

First long ride on my freshly built up Ridley X-Night, 45 miles in...I stopped to look at some weird sensors on a fence. Did a slow U turn in the driveway and toppled over. Speedplay adapter broke.

Rode 10 miles like that, then stopped at a little store to buy some zip ties, and used them to strap the cleat back in to place.

Worked fine for the final 75 miles...

I rode the inaugural Fall Foliage Gravel Grinder (http://www.berkshiresports.org/index.php?ID=f2g2) (F2G2) with a friend and met some forum members along the way (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=155083). Perfect New England fall weather, clear and cool. Lots of dirt, gravel and trails, epic climbs, and beautiful scenery.
