i rode with a zip rep this morning. they look nice. he said they are like OPs. csc doesn't just take what they're given, or so it seems. bjarne seems pretty picky. that counts for something i think.

They look cool.
They look expensive ($800) . . . compared to a custom build at the same or lower weight. But I guess they got more bling.

HED has a similar wheelset for less money called the Bastogne.

There are other similar wewight wheelsets out there as well.

We've had this conversation before, but aren't they just the Zipp hubs + RT1.1s + Aerolite spokes? I bet Ergott could build that combo (or something very similar involving King, DTSwiss hubs) for less than $800.

That said, long live conventional spoked wheels.

OVERPRICED. Paying for the CSC name and the Zipp sponsorship. Just wheels. Get a builder (say Ergott) to build a set. At least as good for less $$$. Or get a set of Campagnolo wheels.

get handbuilts. lighter, stronger, better
or neuvation wheels weight under 1500 g and cost under 4 bills.

Anyone knows or Ergott's whereabouts? I wrote him on Friday, I think, asking for some rims and spokes I need to buy but he hasn't answered.

Not answering or stalling for ergott (he prefers it lower case), but I think he was doing some family stuff, I'm sure he'll be back in the morning.

Hey guys. I and the family have been battling the stomach flu and I'm still home today! My son started on Wednesday and still "showed symptons" as of last night.

Anyway, as with other prebuilts I like (Campy wheels are real nice), a wheelbuilder (or yourself) can match performance for usually less money. That isn't to say that if you find a set of wheels for a song that you should poo-poo them. Some people get amazing deals on some prebuilts and I can't fault them for grabbing them.
