Just preparing for a nice spring weekend ride...
(yes, i'm a wimp waiting untill noon as it warms up to 50')
and i've had this intermittent catchy feeling in my left ergo shifter for
a while, and decided it's finally time to sort it out.

First, I thought i'd remove the cable from the front derailleur
so I could feel if the cable housing under the tape is doing
anything strange, friction-wise. D'oh!!!! looks like gatorade
had dripped onto the cable and stickied up the plasic guide
under the bb. The inner was pratically fused to the guide!

The ergo lever was so stiff on my last ride, I could hardly move
it, and thought something must be really wrong. I've never had
such a thing happen before, but the plastic guide is really long,
it tubes the cable until it pops out above the chainstay.

Learn something new everyday, and I'm glad I didn't start by
taking apart the shifter!

Good observations G :) Another thaing that causes poor shifting and is not immed. obvious with Campy Ergo is a rubber hood that is not pulled back to it's correct position esp. after tape or cable replacment. The rubber may obstruct free movement of the ratchet / cam.

I was just going to type that...had that one happen too. I think mine was a bit of the wrap that was overwrapped ever so slightly impeding shift mechanism movement. A silly little thing but it can really jam things up.
