I'm going to be in NYC for a few days in May next year while my wife is at a conference. Most bike rental places will rent only hybrids or city bikes. In spite of all the BS about riding in Central Park it is only few blocks from where we stay.I don't want to drag my bike out but want a decent ride. i just discovered spinlister where you rent a bike from a private party. Like Air BNB but with bikes.
Does anybody have experience using the service- good or bad.
Thanks in advance.

That was a new idea for me so I looked to see what is offered here in San Diego and it seems like a bunch of mediocre bikes and/or high prices.

May I suggest querying your fellow Paceliners about renting a personal bike directly from them?

I think you'd get much better results than a third-party site where bikes are more leisurely than what we typically ride. Let's face it, the typical bike rental is not what we're after.

Maybe call up Rapha NYC, explain your situation and see if they have any ideas.

He knows the supply of private bikes in San Diego is pretty good but NYC might be different. :)

Dave, I seem to recall you're a little taller than me, but you might be able to make my Colnago Extreme Power work? As long as you're willing to pick up and drop off at 46th/Park between the hours of 8 and 5, you're welcome to use it for the time you're here.

Yep Ken San Diego does have a nice stable of bikes close to great riding.:)

Christian- thanks for the kind offer. I ride a 58 square but have ridden a 60 and a 56 though the 56 did have a 130 stem but I'm sure I could make a shorter stem work fine. Is your Colnago a 56 ?

Colnago is a 54S - which is a 58 Colnago sized - about like a standard 57. 73d STA, 56.3 TT, 16.5 HT. Should fit you fine.
