How do I remove Belgian tubular tape?

I removed a busted cx tubular that I had glued&taped using the Zanc method: http://www.embrocationmagazine.com/o...ng-cx-tubulars

Do I need to remove the Belgian tape or can I apply new glue right over the same tape?
If removing the tape is the thing to do... how? What solvent do you use? What's your method?

i do everything according to that Zanc process EXCEPT using tape. haven't found rolling to be an issue.

good question though, i'd think you could put new glue right over the tape.

I've glued over existing tape without issue. At that point, pretty certain the tape is doing nothing for you though. I've also pealed off tape. It was slow and painful. I picked at it with a flat head screw driver for a few hours. Not fun.

Try Acetone (observe safety precautions).

It seems to be a universal solvent for rubber cement type compounds. I've used it to remove tubular glue, but I've stayed away from tape.

I can usually get tape off the rim by pulling slow. I actually roll it onto an old pen.
I use a hairdryer/heat gun to remove tape off of tires.
