OT: Ti Moots Downtube 'pierced' -- wierd

I was talking to my pal, a bike shop owner, and a moots he sold a guy in 99 had the downtube pierced by a rock...I was amazed that the Ti would suffer such damage from a rock...besides that Moots apparently is not honoring the warrantee. Wondering is anyone has heard of Ti being punctured like this...?

If so, I owned that bike at one point...Pierced on the bottom portion of the downtube. I sent it abck to Moots for a refinishing. They said to not worry about the piercing, I didnt. I sold that bike off when I was moving into my house. I sold off a whole bunch of bikes back then. That was one bike I wished I had kept.
