Will finally be roling out on my new
tubis in a week or so and am curious
about pressure.

I know why they can have a higher
pressure, but should they be ridden
higher than a clincher or at the same.

thanks for the feed back
I value anyones input.
:D :)

I ride my Continental Sprinters and Tufo's at 8 bars.
Used to do 10 bars until TT told to me to try less pressure... :p

I am an extremeist and suffer ocd big time like most roadies. ;)

So I went real high pressure at first on my tubulars. I really didn't see any great speed increase. What I did see was that I evidently picked up a small chard of glass when stuck in a group. When it worked into a tire over 180 psi there wasn't much left to it! I decided more reasonable levels made more sense. :)

Depends on your weight and the tire width.

So........what do you weigh and waht size are they?

to maybe rephrase my question it isn't the amount of pressure that I am interested in knowing. It is in regards of similar pressure to a clincher. I ask this because the sidewall of my vittoria clincher reads 95-115 but the tubi has something like 110-1billiondy. I understand the simple dynamics of the tubular and how it can withstand such pressure but I thought that with running a tubular one could run lower pressure than a clincher with avoiding pinch flats. please inform me.

Ok, I´ll take you up on your kind offer, Dave. I´m 185, and I ride Continental Competition 19mm. Thank you.

I use the same pressure for my 700x23 clinchers and my 700x22 Conti Sprinters.

8 bars......

No sarcasim intended - get some bigger tires. Try some 23mm tires with 110psi and you'll be faster and more comfortable.

That said I'd be running 140ish in 19's then I'd come home and put on some 23's to 25's.

for normal training ride 19 mm 8 bar racing 10 timetrial 12 bar

not all tube can have this brands i mean

with conti tube you can
20 mm 8 bar 10 12 bar tt

23 mm 7 bar 8.5 10 bar

25 tube on low side 6 tt 8 bar

the higer tyre pressure lower rolling resistance
also flats come down with higher tyre pressure

18-20mm tt tyre setup
21.5 mm normal racing to time trail

23 racing tyre best for high speed corner racing
at 8 bar

before tt use vinigar to prevent flats

Cees - Vinegar? Whaaaaaat???? OK, put down the beer and get some sleep.

Pdxxxxxx - Dewd, mfg. recommended tire pressure is a safe bet or less. It is my observation that too many folks run tires with too darn high pressures. Agree with Dave 19 sounds a moight beet pewknee. 22 is just right. For instance, I am 200 lbs and use Conti Sprinters (22) at 100 psi...day, night, rain or shine and the cows do come home. Enjoy.

PS - I forget to pump them for days at a time and have run them at 80 psi'ish...feels nice :)
