I bought a steel frame awhile back and it has some stains from Frame Saver runoff. Is it possible to remove the stains without damaging the paint? Thanks!

I've used a bit of WD-40 on a rag in the past with good results.

I was hoping this thread was going to be about removing frame saver stains from my (mostly) white comforter...

Johngmartin I'm sorry man. That Oxiclean guy seems pretty enthusiastic about his product. However, that could just be the cocaine talking.

The wife gave him an ultimatum, her or the bike.

For cleaning off a frame I find Scrubbing Bubbles works great and leaves a nice shine afterwards. I use if for cleaning parts too like derailleurs, cranks etc.

I used a discount card to scrape it and just picked away at it. I bought my first Serotta cheap because the frame was covered in frame saver. after a week of working at it, it looked like new.

I had some well dried Frame Saver on an old Trek frame. DW40 did not work for me. I did successfully use Goof Off on a rag. I was worried about the paint so was careful at first. No bleed off onto the rag and all was good. It did take some decent elbow grease.

Goof Off is the thing.

Ha ha! I always try and use as little grease as possible, I'm old and fat. Unfortunately Frame Saver can be tougher than tar to remove.

So Goof Off won't hurt the paint? Seems like it would take it off with the frame saver.

I sprayed a small amount onto a rag and rubbed directly onto the stain. I used a white rag on my blue frame and saw no evidence that any paint was affected. On your frame I would try it first on an area that is inconspicuous.
