Anyone building an economical, quality set of internal cam skewers for 126mm spaced rears? Noticed Velo Orange specifically cites 130-135mm sizing, and unsure whether sufficient thread exists to snug up on 126mm.

if you are handy I'm sure you could pick up the appropriate sized die and chase/cut a few extra mm of threading onto a 130mm skewer and cut the excess few mm off. or see if someone like boulder bike (or ebay) has some NOS skewers for 126 hubs

I use 126 in 130 hubs just because are better.

Dont see why 130 mm ones cant be used in 126, you will end up maybe with 3 or 5 mm extra at one end, unless you like to ram guys like ben-hur, I doubt will be a big problem.

I have a set like that, chrome Shimanos from probably from the late 80s. They've been used very little, and I'm not going to use them. PM me if they might work for you...

Velo Orange was kind enough to send a reply and no, their thread length does not allow use on 126mm. They are "working to get new ones made" that are threaded down to 126, so could be available in near future.

dvancleve, PM coming...

This was my first thought if you can't find any good oldies. Pretty easy to do, actually.

I have a pair of early 80's Campy Record skewers I could part with if you're interested. Not very light, and some light scratches on the ends. But, functional and are 100mm & 126mm. How does $30 + shipping sound?

Shimano road skewers should work. Just cut 4mm off the end with a hacksaw. I use their mtb skewers on my road bike and cut 5mm off the end. There's still loads of thread to screw the end nut on to.
