Does anyone know if the weights quoted on their website are accurate? They claim a ISO 111mm Campy compatible model weighs 220-240 grams. How reliable are they?

I have a Token 102 here that weighs 160 g on my scale. Token and Origin8 are said to be the same. I'd guess that weight for the 111 is accurate. I bought the Token used, not sure how many miles were on it. I've probably put something over 500 miles on it with no problem so far.

If those weights are correct, they seem pretty amazing compared to Shimano square taper BB weights. Anyone know anything about the quality of the Origin8 BBs?

Those weights are similar to the old top of the line Shimano un91. Does anyone know who makes them....Tange or are they a Chicom knockoff?

Sold some, for a BB of that $, they are fine. Added bonus is they make a 111 ISO taper one..

It appears the same BBs are also sold under the Sinz and Omni Racer brands. The 160 gm sounds like a Ti spindle version, and the 220 - 240 gm is more likely the steel spindle variety. These weights jibe with what I've seen for the Omni Racer and Sinz branded versions.

In my experience, it's not quite up there with Phil Wood quality, more like Tange quality (which is still reasonably good).

I decided to order one to see if the website's weights are accurate and found they are. Their 73x116mm bb with its hollow steel spindle weighs 235 grams without the bolts which is lighter than Shimano's top of the line un91.

My Origin8 (rebranded Token) 103mm JIS BB weighed 25g LESS than the duraace 7410 it replaced. Never had an issue with it, and it was better sealed than the DA.

Agreed. Salvation for those of us still running bikes of the ST variety comes cheaply and with good quality.

Fine as in not worth paying up for a Campy Centaur BB, or you get what you pay for?

The Token/Origin-8 BBs are fine…but…$45 is too much for a Campy BB???

Haven't looked recently, but that's normally what I've paid at Ribble, Wiggle, PBK, etc…UK retailers.

Looks like Ribble is out of stock…Wiggle is $49…FWIW.

I believe latest Centaurs have two bearings on drive side and one on non drive side, Origin 8 one on each side. Don't know if that makes a real difference. I never seem to ever wear out a Campy BB, new Centaur or 102 Chorus or Record. Have them all. But I never ride in rain.

I think the Campagnolo 3 bearing design is more burley and it 'seems' the tapers are a little more 'ISO', the O8 ones 'seem' a little large..when looking at resulting chainline using them...

But I sold O8 for about $35...Centaur are now $100+..If I chose, I'd get a Phil for that kinda $.
