Let's say I have a seatpost that uses 2-bolt top clamp. It says 8 Nm. Does that mean 8 Nm total torque or 8 Nm per bolt?

Mine has 5Nm on the top and 7Nm on the bottom.

Thanks for clearing it up for me. I've been wondering about it for a while and I got scared when I tightened it last time. The clamp actually says 9 Nm and I only tightened to 5 Nm per bolt. Turns out the saddle slipped backwards on the rails. I tightened it a lot more this time, but not to 9 Nm. Hopefully 7 Nm-8 Nm per bolt is enough this time?
