I haven't done cabling in a while and jumped in a little too fast stripping the off my old ones. Now I'm laying everything out for the new setup and can't remember where these bolts go! They are round, with flat sides. Can someone give me a hint?

Brake barrel adjuster screw?

Look like brake barrel adjusters to me, although not familiar with that specific incarnation.

It looks like 10 speed Shimano 5600, 6600, 7800.

Thanks guys, that helps. I was thinking they had to be for the brakes, but I had bolts sticking out of the brake arms already... turns out they were the pinch bolts for my left crank arm! I must have mixed them up as I was disassembling and cleaning everything the other day. Will post some pics once the new frame is built up :)

Brake barrel adjuster? With a nut that threads on? The flat sides allow the bolt to move up and down in the brake arm and the nut with the threads holds it in place.

The bolt doesn't need flats above the threads because the flats in the threads match up to a non-circular opening in the brake arm (or where ever).

*edit, late to the party. If I'd pointed the camera down a touch whenever I took the picture there'd be a pair of Shimano barrel adjusters there.
