Hey Guys…I need to draw on some experience here.
I built up a set of mismatched cf (tubular) wheels last year and they have worked out pretty darn well. The front is an older Corima (bought used) and the rear I built up from a new Gigantex rim. I've been using the Campy red brake pads…which perform great.
Here's the question/dilemna…
The front Corima brake track looks like the rest of the rim structure, same weave and exhibits little to no noticeable brake track wear.
The rear Gigantex came from the factory with a smooth black surface application of some kind…a coating…that is now worn off extensively with <1k miles. Are these brake track treatments supposed to stick around, or are they more cosmetic (when new) than anything???
TIA
