not to long ago i was riding on a bike path to run a quick errand, on my way back no more than 5mins later a proper huge "king pine" had fallen across the path. around 3' in diameter, at least 80' tall. gave me the shivers.

pretty tragic ... but theres worse ways to die.

Not much you can do about that. I was once riding in Arlington with some random guy that had caught up to me when we had to hit the brakes hard because one of the precast concrete light poles was crumbling onto the street right in front of us.

A little later and it would have come across our backs. Good thing there were no cars to swerve or for it to fall on either. That thing was heavy enough that they had to repair the road where it had fallen.
