View Full Version : All City Nature Boy - Tire Clearance

Any of you ride a Nature Boy? I've been interested in one for a while now. The site says 38mm clearance, but some companies are pretty conservative with this. I am wondering if RocknRoads (43mm) will fit. I'm out in the desert, so mud clearance isn't necessarily a priority.

I had one but I just ran 32 CX tires on it. I'd guess 38 is pretty conservative and I know of one person who ran 40 Knaards on his. Not sure on 45 though.

Widest I was able to fit was 700x45s and it was tight.

The chain stay spacing differs slightly on different sizes of this bike. So a bigger frame can allow a 45 but my 49 tops out at about 39. For some reason it isn't a problem with the seat stays and of course the fork is the same throughout. I have a 42 in front right now without a problem.

Ok, for those that are curious, the Rock n Roads do fit just fine. About 3-4mm clearance per side. Aired up to 40psi on 19mm rims.

I ran 40C studded snow tires with plenty of room.

Any idea what the max tire width would be with with fenders? I am considering either a macho man disc or a macho king. The straggler is closer to what I want but the geometry, drop outs and weight have me leaning towards the all city.

I'm not sure, as I don't have or plan to install fenders, but maybe 38?
