Can anyone point me in the direction of some cheap-but-good hubs? Need 28h.

Thanks in advance!

Velocity.mine have been more than solid though some pretty nasty conditions.

thanks for the recommendation, where can one procure velocity hubs at a price that isn't what I'm seeing on their website...cause that is far from "low cost" IMO haha

You are going to have difficulty finding 'cheap but good' hubs in 28h.

Fairly easy with 32h, 28h, not so much.

Yowser, the high end velocity high low are pushing Record prices...

They're just Formula sealed bearing hubs.

Grab some Novatec or Bitex/Mr. Ride/Circus Monkey/BHS...basically the same thing.

i guess i should mention I'm looking for SHIM/SRAM 11 hubs...

I've heard mixed things about the cheap stuff outta taiwan, particularly whatever BHS is selling, not so great things about the durability/quality of the internals n such.

I've got a few thousand miles on a set. They work and are easy to service but have developed an infernal click.

So, yeah, mixed things, hah.

And you are tied to 28h? 5800 hubs(32) are great hubs and like $90 a pair.

So no go on Miche RB then.

What about Novatec?

I think with any of the Taiwanese/Chinese hubs, be prepared to swap in new sealed bearings sooner than later...this ain't no Campy Record or DA!

yea, already have a set of 28h rims that id like to (finally) lace up.

anyone have any experience with DT350's?

also, how would DA9000 hubs fare in mud?

these would be for a CX wheel set and the price diff for DT350 vs DA9000 is $30 from my sources...probably worth it to go DA methinks.

Miche Primato should do it:

Really? Cost is more like $150 greater a set, for DA!

Hmmm...Looks like the Miche website confirms that...I guess just make sure that the supplier is shipping the latest version.

I was looking at Wiggle, and they were stating 9/10s only.

There you go Eric...

Right...ie "grab the DA set"...that's assuming that they're not simply overcharging for the DT set, of course!

PM me the numbers if you feel like it...

I've had really good luck with the three or four sets of BikeHubStore.com hubs I've used.

DT 350 are great hubs. The same innards as DT240..little heavier hub shell made 'off shore'(Asia)..BUT for the $, I'd do 9000..funny you have gone from 'cheap but reliable' to 'fairly expensive and reliable'..

^^^That was going to be my recommendation...until I saw people talking about $100/set.

I have been very happy with Novatec hubs. They took the most abuse of all my wheel sets and I never had a single problem with any of them. There's a guy in the UK on EBay selling 11 speed sets in 20, 24, or 28 hole drillings for under $75 shipped. However if I could get DA 9000 cheap I would go with them.

A rather larger guy rides 350s on his roadie and has a few solid years on them. have only heard good things and looking at building a CX disc wheelset with then. The front is reasonable, but the rear disc hub is a little pricey to me.

I'm a big fan of Shimano hubs. Have been for many years now.

...but if you want 28h, you're buying 9k. They aren't making 6800 in 28h.

I've got a pair of Bitex hubs. They're not bad for the $$. Little loose in the rear right now, but I think that's just me not having adjusted em right after replacing the FH body with an 11sp unit.

I haven't priced out Am Classic hubs lately. How're they $$-wise?

I've been looking for the same thing and am really annoyed Shimano isn't offering affordable 11sp hubs with 28h drilling as they used to. The Miches look like a good compromise, and super beefy. Can anyone confirm they are 11sp?

Otherwise, I would go with Novatech hubs. They are very decent, but the alloy freehubs teeth easily, so get one with an anti-bite freehub. Bdopcycling has been a good source for me.
