So our boss is retiring and has recently expressed some interest in picking up a decent hybrid bike and getting into a little cycling in his new-found spare time. Some us would like to buy him a gift certificate for a decent LBS near his home in Matawan, NJ that will take good care of him.

Any good LBS recommendations? Also, any insight on hybrid bike to took at in the $500-$750 price range?

Many thanks!
Mike

My wife has a Trek FX and I have a Cannondale Quick CX. Both are very good hybrids. We use them for around town tasks, vacations and gravel roads. Both have models well within your budget.

And both of those are carried at Cyclesport in Park Ridge, NJ, which is where I'd send you -- even though I have no idea where Matawan is :) (google tells me it's an hour... i'd tell you (him) it's worth it.)

CycleSport has been in Bidness forever. and has a loyal cult
following. There are many reasons why it attained this status.

It's a great LBS.

CycleSport in Park Ridge is the only place you should go!

I love you guys, but there's nothing like telling a casual cyclist that the only good LBS is an hour away to get them excited about bikes...

CycleSport, while it may be a very good shop, is no where near Matawan. Of the shops mentioned above, The Peddler in Long Branch is the closest.

Cyclesport is well over an hour away from Matawan. I personally had a bad experience there and would not recommend them. Of course YMMV.
