Was playing around with BikeCAD because I eventually want to redo the Concours in either all brushed ti or this. The paint would approximate the Shamals. The decals would be masked ti, except for HT and TT.

Feedback more than welcome.

Too matchy matchy. I say leave it brushed ti -- or white with some exposed brushed ti -- and let the wheels be the bling.

How about a white base and brushed ti lettering with a thin gold outline? Brushed ti stays as well.

one thing to consider is what you'd do if you needed to replace the gold shamals due to rim damage? IIRC, these are no longer produced? Would the aesthetic be ruined if you were forced to switch wheels to something silver or black?

Liking the design but think you might change the position & angle of the gold on the fork to (visually) intersect with the rim depth? When viewed from the front, it might have a neat effect.

Having had several painted ti bikes, I advise you to stay with brushed ti and get new decals (and bar tape). If you can't find them, get some made in vinyl.

I concur and would go with a brushed finish, and perhaps just a matching headset or top cap to match the wheels, if you feel the need.

Honestly brushed ti is the way to go.

Do it!! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=51Wg6k9cWhM#t=17)

Do what is going to make you smile when you throw your leg over the bike.

I just hope those wheels are available for a long time if the point is to match them.

I agree that I prefer a non-painted Ti frame…but…if you want paint, I think it looks good.

However, I would definitely leave the SSs and CSs bare Ti for most of their length. Have a look at some of the Spectrum and Serotta mixed paint schemes over the years…it channels the classic chromed stays of the past but still looks modern with simple/bold color blocks.

Agree with everyone here.

Leave ss and cs bare for the most part.
Also, if anything is wrong with the wheels you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

I think I'm going with the brushed look, white decals and a white fork.

I like it. Elegant.

If you're having difficulty finding further gold accents, I suppose you could always go with…

And smile a lot. ;)

Version 2 looks nicer to me than version 1.

My only comment would be that I would hesitate to let the color/finish of the wheels dictate the overall paint scheme too much. You might change the wheels later. That said, I think the V2 would look just as good with more subtle wheels.

Gold outlines for the letters?

What about half TI half gold? So just like the first example but instead of white that would be Ti. I really like the look of half ti and half color.

Kind of like this :

I love brushed titanium for the look and the easy upkeep.

Mine came with red decals and I like red. Have red bar tape, cables, saddle, red accent on Bontrager matching stem and seat post and for five years had Shimano Dura Ace 7850-SL wheels that had red accents(now have Shimano Ultegra that are neutral). Would like to have red headset cups and bottom bracket but it will be a long time before the headset wears out and elected to go with Shimano instead of something that offered colors when I had to replace the bottom bracket.

I vote sell those heinous Shamals and then let's re-huddle

I like this much better. The gold headset is a great accent; had one on my v1 Hampsten, and would have put one on v2 but King only makes the D-11 headset (Steve uses a 38mm ID headtube on larger frames ala Dario). You might think about gold Jagwire cables, or even gold Nokon/iLinks/Jagwire segmented cables to give a little more gold without going all trashy.

And there's a comment above about wheels -- I like the gold, but it doesn't limit you to the Shamals.

Another vote for the brushed finish with the blingy wheels/headset combo. If you get change-minded later, switching out the HS and wheels is easy-peezy, and brushed Ti is classic.
