Anybody have good or bad experiences with tire alert for tubular base tape and tube replacement? I have some old tubulars thst could use the help. Or is there a better place to send these?

They do great work. Slow sometimes depending on time of year, but solid repairs each time.

I sent one to them and they did a good job.

Does good work. He does use a butyl tube for the replacement, just a FYI.

I probably only use if flat in first 1/4-1/3 of tire life. Save a few and send.

I was going to mention just that, if the tubular dies after a week it worth to fix it, but if already has like 6 months or clearly is just old is beter just replace. Fix old tubulars with threads that are already gone or almost gone is not a good investment unless you are going to fix them yourself.

He lives right up the road from me. Nice guy. Said if I wanted to I could drop off my tires in person.

I wonder if they would replace it with a latex tube if I sent it with the tire. I need a new tube on one and new base tape on the other. Cx tires. Very little wear

Good work IMO, however, the base tape he used on the tires I had fixed seemed quite narrow compared to the original base tape on my Vittoria Corsa EVO tires. On wider rims there was no base tape showing on the sides of the rim once glued. I wonder if he's using wider tape now?

also true. the base tape is definitely narrower than OEM stuff on conti sprinters...would be nice if they started using something more "industry standard" width.

On the other forum individuals say that he will install latex tubes if you send them along. Apparently, will sweeten the ride on Conti tubulars that originally came with butyl. No personal experience - just reporting on what I've read.

On a related note:

http://www.tirealert.com/tirealert/Info.html

"If you'd like to provide your own tube, please enclose it with your tire. We will install it for $20 each - this includes return shipping!"

I would assume that this is referring to just that - provide your own latex tubes.

I sent a couple of Challenge Latex tubes along with my tires,Vittoria CX and a Veloflex Roubaix. They came back a little on the loose side but are rolling along just fine.
