My palm reader said I would be going on a long trip. And I won't have a computer to sync with the Garmin, but also will need to make sure the Garmin is available for right around 14 days of cycling or 14 separate activities. Anyone know?

That's no problem. It can hold a ton more than that. Just charge it.

True, but when it gets close to capacity it can get flaky. 14 days should be no problem at all. I flush my 800 every 60 days.

I probably had 100 or more activities before I cleared the history. Your 14 day trip should be fine.

although, the more activities on there, the slower it is. i think i went 6 months without clearing it before (but these are rides sans power data, those are a bit bigger)

My experience is that more than a month or two of daily activities will make a 500 ···· the bed.

I've never cleared mine and after several years of use, it's still Garmin-fabulous.

So I am forced to do a trip in what is known as Cathar Country. Starts in Toulouse and then does a loop near the Pyrenees and down to the Med.

It also depends on how much data is being collected. HR isn't much different but add a powermeter and there's a lot more data. Perhaps not relevant for the original poster but food for thought.

I ride nearly everyday, with power, and I've never run into an issue clearing it out every 6 months or so. You'll be fine for 14 days, just bring a charger for it.
