Dude was out at the local Monday night WCs. Had a chance to go over his bike over beers after the ride.

I was really impressed. That is a GREAT looking rig. He has had it for a year and a half and has ridden the crap out of it in all types of conditions and ride types. Looks new.

Very cool bike.

Glad to hear good things about it. I'm almost done with my build. Just need to throw the chain on and tune it up.

The bike performed excellently at D2R2. Now only if my legs could perform as well... I'll post more pics in the gallery once I do a proper photoshoot.

I like that salsa is (partially) painting them...too many bare ti frames out there IMO, they all start looking the same!

Salsa, please put fender mounts on these frames.

They should have painted the whole frame, or at least left off the stripes where the paint meets the bare Ti. The fork really needs work as it is... sorry remembering the golden rule. Cool bike otherwise. Looks like a blast to ride.

+2 That bike would be so fine with fenders...

Yah, I thought about it and knew that they were adding fenders and tire clearance to the Colossal, but I wanted something with clearance. And when I thought about it, generally just use the clip on fenders anyway because the bigger ones drive me nuts. I'll throw up a mini gallery in the production frame sections too.

That's a nice looking bike. I like the stripe up the side of the fork and smaller enve logos rather than a giant one.

Where did you get the frameset? I've only seen them as complete bikes.

I got it through my LBS who is a Salsa dealer. Most Salsa bikes are available as framesets via QBP as long as the LBS is also a Salsa dealer. The little blue stripe looks excellent in person and really stands out on the fork.

I saw it in person at D2R2. The all black H+ wheels are the fo' shizzle!

Hey how did you make out with the rest of the ride with only half your gears, and was it the rear derailleur or the hanger that was the problem?

Fortunately, for me, Buddy #1 was dragging, so we went slow and I didn't need any go-fast gears. I'd thought I'd damaged the derailleur in a tumble on the treacherous, rocky & muddy downhill section towards the beginning. Turns out, it just came out of adjustment. Thirty seconds of work and it was functioning fine again. Whew!

The entire drive back to Indiana, Buddy #2 (with the Vanilla) was talking about offloading it in favor of a Warbird. I think he's already called the LBS to inquire.

As you may recall, I've got the same H+ ano'd rims on my bike, but with all the dust, sand and gravel, and rim brakes, the sidewalls look polished now.

Wish your Warbird was a size or two larger. I would've requested a test ride.

We'll have to hook up next year and do the 180K.

Wait, you drove from Indiana for D2R2? Wow that's impressive. Glad you got it working. Love the build on the Gunnar. You should post it in the gallery. I would have gladly let it out for a test ride. It is a fun bike to ride and I'll be putting some more dirt miles on it this weekend.

Yeah, those rims feel great and look pretty sweet. For whatever reason, mine didn't get too dusty during D2R2. Weird. Glad that everything was good and tell your buddy that the Warbird is fantastic, but to definitely use a 160 rotor on the rear to clear the spokes. I just gotta pick up some Clemet Xplor's for it for some rougher stuff.
