The worse thing is that somebody is trying to sell it, even worse... some moron will buy it too...

Worst, this was not some clueless seller of the "don't know anything about bicycles" kind but a guy with an eBay storefront for bicycle related items.
Gone now...

Help me out. Can't tell from the pic (unless 1/2 the stem was actually missing) what the problem was.

Someone drilled and tapped the top of the clamp for an Allen bolt, so the bars wouldn't' slip. The modification looked decently done, but it probably shouldn't be ridden except by the person that made the mod, and definitely not sold on the auction site.

You're right. Home on the tablet, and can see it more clearly now. I like the rivet solution better than my guess. Still,

Was a rivet... the dude put the listing down. Personally dont care what you put for sale as long is the right description, as a seller if you at least dont say... "hey there's a rivet right there, you cant change the angle of the handlebar no more, buy it as it is, not my problem"... then if you dont state stuff like that in the listing then it is a big headache for everybody because always some eistein will buy w/o looking at better.

Last week a guy was selling a vitus 979 full athena group and crashed to the point that the top tube and the down tube were bent like 10 degrees down, from looking at it you know. Again... "I dont know anything, was my dad's blah blah"... sent a msg to the guy asking him about the crash, for him wasnt crashed, he took the listing down next day. The worse, people was bidding big time at it. Ideal for a buyer looking for free parts, you fill up the complain, seller will give some money back and everybody happy. Good the dude took the listing down.

LOL :)

Some people got the bad idea of putting electrical tape in those one bolt BMC bikes, you cant move the seatpost no more ;D
