I was surprised to not find much in the way of road-rash threads on this board. I searched a few pages of results and only found references, no actual threads discussing the topic. So maybe it's time for one!
Here's one that's put an anchor on my life for the last couple days... not too bad, but just bad enough that I'm kind of gimped up.

Patch on my hip/thigh, calf, forearm and wrist.. the patch on my hip is the worst, and the one I'm having the most difficulty with. I just let the others dry out (for better or worse).. the calf weeped for about a day, but the others sealed up quick. I consulted an EMT buddy who said to keep it slathered in neo and covered up for a "few days," then let it dry up. He didn't seem to think tegaderm was necessary. I've read articles that say it's better to keep them wet until they skin over- so 4-5 days under tegaderm, basically.
But what's going to get you at least mostly functional again fastest? I think a big patch of scab, though it might take longer to fully heal and be more likely to scar (I'm absolutely covered in scars anyway, so not exactly worried about that at this point in my life), might get me back into bibs faster and moving around easier faster than a huge patch of teg and gauze taped up and down my thigh.
Obviously if you've really burned off a deep, large area of skin, you're going to keep it covered. But what to do for these fairly minor-but-still-nasty patches? Would you scab over, tegaderm, or something else?
Let's see your road rash and repair techniques!
And yea - I've never shaved and I never will.
