I've had my handlebra on for about
2 years. Removed it to put on a different bike. Is there a best way to
clean it off the bike? Maybe soak and agitate in something?
Anybody ever try throwing it in the washing machine?
This is the (brown) hurricane tape I think.
Do I have to wait for a hurricane and hang it outside?

Thanks

Try plain ode water with a mild soap.

and just let it dry. drys fast

then apply some white water based treatment.

Funny this thread came up....Ray, I was on your site yesterday looking through the FAQs as I need to do the same. Anything commercially available (Walmart/Home Depot- ish) that you'd recommend as a treatment. Saw that you advised against oil based products.

FWIW....One of the best products and product values I have come across. I will buy it again (Handlebra)

TIA

Geoff

I've found 303 protectant works very well on my HandleBra for cleaning and protecting.

Yes !!!!

303 is great stuff !!!!! Let dry for a few hours .

I use 303 on my bike.

303 is great for the car/boat too.

----------------------

Last winter I left two 10 inch by 10 inch sheets of HB leather outside.
A snow storm came by and that was the end of them. The blew away.

3 months later, I found em on the grass after the snow melted.
They did stink.

I took em inside and ran em under warm water with some
dish washer soap. Rinsed very very well.

Let dry overnight apply some 303 and were as good as new.

HB wrap can take a beating. It's hard to ruin the stuff.

Try this

get a bucket of warm water ...
add a few drops of soap

add the HB wrap and wash and agitate with your hands.

Rinse very very well with several buckets of clean water.

Hang up and let dry (overnight)

The apply 303 copiously. Inundate the wrap.
work the 303 in with your hands on both sides.
and let dry ... (about 2-4 hours or so)

Should be close to new. Maybe even better as it now has a patina.

re wrap over hockey tape.

Thanks Ray and Dave and Geoff
I knew you'd be on this!
I was gonna go for it anyway but I'm glad there are some good
results out there.

From my perspective ..... HB lasts way toooo long ....

I can't get repeat customers for the same bike ...

Should I build in planed obsolescence ? :p

Guess not ..... building it right has not hurt Chris King.

Ray, you are going to have to rely on the N+1 crowd. I've got your product on 3 bikes and some take off in the box for the next one ( if the color works)... Fabulous stuff but it does last...
