Cyclocross bike question

I have a buddy who wants to start riding and mentioned maybe getting a cross bike. He is looking at a Bianchi Cross Concept, a Novara Rivet, Gunnar Crosshairs and a Redline Conquest Pro. Anyone ride any of these or know of anyone whos had luck with any of them? I think he would be more biased to road manners.

Around here there are WAY more Redlines than just about anything else. Also lots of Ridleys, Empellas, and now some Javelins, all thanks to cyclocrossworld.com

Not sure why, but you don't see many Fujis or Bianchis around here.
