I have acquired a new CAAD9 frame sans fork (the guy I got it from got a complete frameset for the cost of a replacement fork for himself, and I, idiot as I am, couldn't resist). I've never had a full on race bike, and my knowledge of carbon anything is virtually nil.

What's a suitable non-tapered replacement fork, assuming I'm matching the rake of the original? Are all carbon forks pretty much the same these days, the only difference being pretty light vs super light vs crazy light? I would generally guess something of the engineering of a frame leads to a fork spec optimizing the design of the frame, but also guess basic race bike engineering emphasizes lightness and stiffness over everything else. Or is there anything I should avoid? I can definitely say that sprinting in crits I could feel the front end of my old Jamis Eclipse flexing like crazy.

I'm 210-220 even at race weight (darn this cross training making me gain muscle heh), but it seems that carbon steerers and what seems to me to be ridiculously light (mid 300g!) are the norm these days.

Enve 2.0 will do you right. 1.0 if you want an even lighter fork and wallet.

The Easton EC70/90 are also good replacement options.

Rake was 45 for all sizes of CAAD9s, at least in 2007-2009.

This is a US-made BB30 jawn... I really have no idea of the year. Gloss white with red logos and a bit of dark silver on the underside of the downtube (I guess because that's where rocks will chip the paint?).

There are a few Cannondale forks for auction on eBay. Don't know whether your CAAD 9 has a tapered steerer, but there's at least one Cannondale fork on eBay with a tapered steerer. I also see Cannondale Slice forks and Super Six forks, too.

I ran a Reynolds Ouzo Pro with carbon steerer on my Caad 7 seemed to work just fine. I weigh 195-205 lbs.

Watch the length. CAAD forks are a touch longer than many aftermarket. I'm blanking on the difference but think its around 5-mm. Enough that it matters. Enve is too short. I went with an Alpha Q and it rides great. And it matches the original geometry.

I ran an ENVE 2.0 on my CAAD9 and really liked the way it handled. Would recommend.

Someone on FB has a Supersix fork for $125, no clue if that is a good deal or not. Tapered, 215mm steerer.

My CAAD9 came with a (matching) EC90SL and it rode very well.

I don't think you need to put too much thought into it. There is probably something nice in the classifieds right now.

Hey guys, not trying to turn this into a WTB thread, I swear! And ninj, my frame is a 63, but thanks anyway.

All I know is that forks are a lot different than the last plastic one I owned, and this frame will be way stiffer (and lighter) than my other bike, so I'm trying to edify myself besides reading a million reviews and mfr claims of compliance and stiffness.

Thanks for the reqs (and the info Fast, I'd never figure that out looking at catalog specs :)). Do you mean the axle to crown is different or the rake?
