I've been happily riding a bike with DA7700 (9speed) for years, and have just bought a new (used) Parlee that has Ultegra 6700 (10speed). I'm vaguely wondering about upgrading the gruppo on the new bike to 9000/6800, since that seems a major step up, and I'm not crazy about how the 6700 shifts. My understanding is that older wheels are not 11-speed compatible, but newer ones are 11/10/9 compatible. How can I tell if the wheels that came with the bike (Ksyrium Elite), or indeed any rear wheels, can take an 11 speed cassette? I can imagine doing an upgrade if I don't need new wheels too.
