I prefer not to spend a fortune but at this point I need some bibs.

You know you need them when you wear an old pair of cycling shorts and bibs on top like I did this AM. It actually worked pretty well.

Is it cheaper to get them in the UK like groups etc?

I know Sugoi bibs have been rated high in the past but what else is good for 50-100 miles?

I had desoto and I was not at all impressed. My older Pactimo stuff is still nice.

Thoughts?

Voler Black Label (http://www.voler.com/browse/product/li/1110554)are pretty awesome, especially when discounted. If you're on Voler's mailing list you get occasional offers for 10-25% off.

If you are patient you can pick up bibs for a pretty good discount on www.chainlove.com . A friend just got some De Marchi (I think that was the brand) for $50.

A Great set of Santini bibs from Nashbar: (careful, Santini tends to run small)

type "bnemail" for 21% off and you get free shipping!

Good, but not as good as Santini, but $20 less. The 21% will require your to spend $10 more on somthing else though.

CC has a bunch of stuff on closeout if you can find your size in a brand that pleases you (link below sorted by %off):

Performance Ultra - about $80 on sale - hard to beat for the price. I like them as much as my $150 Garneau or my mid range descentes that are starting to wear out.

You might try Boure [http://boure.com/] if you haven't already.

Agree, the Ultras are nice bibs/shorts. The Volers (mentioned earlier in this thread) are also good bibs/shorts. I consider these high value since they appear to offer high quality at reasonable prices. Sugoi RS remains my personal favorite though-- although somewhat expensive.

+1 for the Voler Black Label FS Pro.

No silicone grippers...nice Cytech pad...nice materials/sewing.

I'm mainly a Capo guy (SC and GS lines), but these Volers are pretty damn nice...can be had for ~$100 with various promo codes that are usually floating around the interwebs...

Interesting (and cool, if you like green! ;) )...the regular FS Pro uses the Trilogy pad...the Comp HP is a much better pad IMHO... these appear to be the ones used in the fit kits...nice find Louis!

I'd get some, but I think my "good bib / shorts" drawer is maxed out.

You might try Boure [http://boure.com/] if you haven't already.

For the OP: I have a medium pair of Boure bibs.
They just don't work for me. Barely worn.
Shoot me a PM and you can have them for shipping cost if medium fits.

Thanks Louis. I picked up the green bibs and matching jersey. Really all my clothes need a refresh. Grabbed a 10% coupon and the set was 112 shipped. Not bad.

I will look at these other suggestions and get a few more.

Thanks so much. I am a large according to the Boure site. 6'0" 165-190 and that is me.
