I really hope Nibali enters and kicks Froome's ass. I don't hate Froome but I am a Sicilian American and like Nibali. He could earn a lot of respect by beating a stacked field at the vuelta.

I am excited about the Tour of Utah. http://forums.thepaceline.net/images/smilies/banana.gif

After that I want to see Horner kick some ass at the Vuelta.

Anyone but Froome is my motto.

Anyone that doesn't respect what he did at the TdF needs their head examined.

Not sure he can peak for 2 grand tours (especially back to back ones) Too much really to ask of anyone.

Back to your question.....Can't wait!

I think the Vuelta should be really good this year, not as Nibali vs Froome match, but as a Contador vs Froome match. With those two experiencing such disappointment at the TdF, they are going to be looking for redemption to salvage their 2014 campaigns at the Vuelta. I think the best thing for Nibali to do is to rest on the biggest prize of the year (TdF) and let his fallen competitors fight over the scraps that are left this year. He has nothing to gain from going to Vuelta this year and nothing to prove against those guys (this year, anyway). It is now up to Froome and Contador to knock Nibali off of the throne next year.

I would second that only to say ' Anyone But SKY'. Getting a little tired of Brailsford's haughty and terse reckonings. I like to watch the direct feed online from Eurosport and I understand they kinda 'gotta' support SKY there, but it's getting a little old.

More on point: Here's a pic that was my desktop background almost all winter showing the point where Horner rode off on one of the last big climbs and Nibali couldn't respond.

I think there is still a chance Contador will be there. Riis seems to think it is possible.

I would like to see Froomey and Quintana ride away from everyone else. And Horner fade away. And Lampre pull Craig Lewis out of retirement.

It would be great to see Nibali and Quintana battle it out with Froome a distant third.

Contador won the Giro and Vuelta in 2008. I believe Hinault is the last rider to win the tour and the Vuelta in the same year in 1978. Anquetil did it in 1963. EM never won the 2 of them in the same year but he has taken the Giro and Tour in a couple of years and the Giro and the Vuelta once in the same year.

Yes, I wish I could pick it up on my cable, but alas, it's not possible.

Even if Contador is back, I doubt he'd be a threat. Better for him to wait 'till next year and be at full strength.

In 1978 the Vuelta was in late April to mid May.

Always check the oddsmakers' sites when wondering who is riding.

Froome vs. Quintana is the only game in town.

I like G. Thomas. Not to win the Vuelta, but in general. #onlyredeemingthingatSKY

For the Tour, msnbc/universal sports or whatever it is now called covers that race. Who is covering the vuelta in the US?:butt::)

CT's article: http://cyclingtips.com.au/2014/08/froome-quintana-horner-evans-cavendish-sagan-amongst-riders-expected-for-vuelta/

I wonder if Cav will be up to snuff in time, less than 8 weeks to repair a banged up shoulder seems optimistic to me. Team time trial to start, wonder which will team will snag it.
