Merckx pricing International

I'm always checking Ebay out for steel Merckx frames and have found some great pricing coming out to the Netherlands and even Great Britain though shipping charges from Britain are rather high BUT pricing out of Germany is ridiculous. Most are at least double and sometimes triple for the same frames from other countries. Is there a reason for that? Just curious.

I purchased an immaculate Strada from the Netherlands for $420 + $45 shipping.

I ended up selling the Strada (red one) because the TT was too long.

Buy from Germany is always a lot of money, better go with a seller from holland. Germans for crap ask a lot of dough, dutch's will ask fair price generally speaking.

There are two different things.

One is a Buy-It-Now eBay listing that's been sitting there for several months or even years (I guess this seller is going to sit on it for quite some time).

The other you don't say where thoses pics are from but I am guessing local classifieds.

When I am in Belgium I read the local ads everyday and you can find complete Eddy Merckx steel bikes in great condition for $500-$600. If you are lucky and the seller has no clue you can get an even better deal. I missed a Telekom Corsa Extra with 8 speed Campy Chorus that sold for $300. I was just too lazy to drive the 100km to pickup the bike.

My dutch friend was selling one of those a few months ago. And actually was one of the ones that was from the last team EM race at, he found that with the mechanic of the team that is a dude that is retired.
