Looking for his palmares, I find that he is the odd man out in US Speedskating:

Not surprising.

I don't get it.

Honestly I am not too informed on this subject, but why is that like that? Is it because he's new? Can't be that new and selected for the Olympics, right? What's it about?

I found the explanation:

"In 2005, Davis's athletic agreement was terminated by U.S. Speedskating for violating a sponsorship clause in his contract. Davis failed to remove the logo of a European sponsor from his racing suit and replace it with Qwest, which became the organization's official sponsor that year. As a result of that dispute, Davis will not allow U.S. Speedskating to post his biography on its Web site."

Here's a good article that clarifies the problem of sponsorship of star athletes:

As usual......it boils down to money. Who gets it and who wants it.

For athletes yes, for everyone else, it's more like the set
of Dallas. It's where all the oil we send you comes from.

There are pros all over the Olympics (basketball, hockey, baseball), why shouldn't skaters get a piece of the pie?

i read that his mother is.. um... totally psycho.. paranoid and is a world class screamer and has created an enviroment around dealing with him that make it nearly impossible to relate to him. it's on the back page of sports illustrated .. i think it was last week if not this week.

He should have been listening to his agent, Peter Carlisle.
