I can get 3 Rubino pros's for the price of 2 Conti's so the potential extra wear is negated on the Conti.

Which rides better (I am going 28)

Thanks

I found the gp4000 to be the best riding durable tire.

4seasons for me of those two.

Rubino's tend to get small cuts on northern new england roads (like most vittoria tires), so they are not in the running.

Contis run tall but narrow which allow you to lower pressure and they become very comfy.
At 5'11 and 145 lbs I run the 28s at 55 in front and 75 rear

I'm happy with both options. I tend to buy what's on sale. I find the rubino pros ride softer, smoother and handle great. Nice that they offer different center tread colors too.. If that's your thing.. I'm currently running 4 seasons..and love them. To me they are a great balance between gatorskins protection and gp4k speed.

I've put a lot of miles on both tires, commuting as well as recreational riding. Personally I would buy the Rubinos if they are that much cheaper. The Conti 4 Seasons will probably last longer and have fewer flats, but the Rubinos ride nicer. The Contis were great for commuting because of their durability and traction on wet roads but hard to justify at current prices.

Currently riding Rubino Pros on all my bikes ... 25mm(slick & tread) & 28mm(tread). All are very nice riding tires and sales via internet can be found.

Pro Bike Kit has Conti on sale now.

I had been pretty excited about the 28s for a few months. I called the US distributor a few weeks ago and they had no estimated timeline for arrival.

And so we wait.

Agree. Running 25s and 28s, great tire at a very reasonable price!

I did not get the Tech version. It sounds like the standard pro has a decent track record for durability so fingers crossed.

I've seen them *listed* at Ribble but never yet in stock. I'll snap a pair up when available.

Apologies, mistaken, don't have the Tech version in 25 just 28. I do have the Rubino Pro Slick in 25 and I'm very happy with its performance especially when compared to tires I have that cost twice as much. I think you will be pleased with this tire.

Has anyone tried the Schwable One in 28c, or any size for that matter? How do they compare to Conti 4000s?

I hope they show up soon. I used to train on Rubinos but I found that they didn't handle well enough for racing, especially in the rain. I use GP4000s now to train on and for pit wheels. They cost a little more but fit my needs better. If I were just rec riding the Rubinos would be fine. They do get cut up but I didn't get an excessive amount of flats from it.

Have ridden both. Can't really notice a difference between them. Advertised weights are close. Puncture protection about the same overall. I think when the Rubino tires take a cut, the cut tends to get bigger faster than with my GP4000S. I would probably still buy more Rubino in the future because I can get the pair for $20+ cheaper.

They came fast (next day). I mounted them this evening and will try them in the morning.

I have been riding on a big arse Continental sport contact at nearly twice the weight so it should be good.

These 28s are just slightly less massive than the sport contacts that they are replacing. The Sport Contacts were $5 at am REI garage sale so I had to endure them.

I had been pretty excited about the 28s for a few months. I called the US distributor a few weeks ago and they had no estimated timeline for arrival.

And so we wait.

It took a long time for the Euro brands(Conti, Vittoria, the 2 I sold) to realize that 25c was the new 23c and 23c was becoming the new 20c...when I first started in this daffy biz..20c were common and 23c were not. The tire shelf had more 20s than 23s..no 25c at all and 28c was the thing of bearded, baseball hat, cut off short wearing weirdos. So be patient, the Euros follow racing dudes really closely and look at what they use. The gravel-grinding/rando/big tire crowd in Europe is very small and like a lot of Euro companies, they don't necessarily look to 'trends' in the US for guidance.
