I'm looking for a stand to store my Corsa Extra in a corner of the living room and I'm wandering what you guys would recommend?

- Must be a floor model
- Be gentle to the bike
- Stable (!)
- Not an industrial look (living room)
- Must be able to pickup the bike and drop it in the stand easily

So far the only thing I have found is this one. Good? Crap? Other choices?

Thanks a lot!

had those in a bike shop I worked in with some very high end road bikes. Work great, but only up to a certain tire width. I recall 25mm tires on fat Zipp rims did not fit well if at all (they likely measured 28mm+)

I agree it's great. They have several of them at my LBS and they work very well. No sure it would get the wife's seal of approval for esthetics in the living room though. But in a garage for sure!

You're introducing new criteria to the list!

I have a Rakk also. I keep my Kirk on it. It works great.

PS. Are you back from your trip? Did you get married while you were there? I had thought she was a girlfriend!

Welcome back :)

Yes I'm back. I did not post pics of Flanders because of limited internet access there but it was totally awesome :)

She's a girlfriend but acting like a wife! (just kidding... she's very sweet)

I came here expecting a discussion about work stands and was going to express my desire for this:

So I guess it is natural that I vote for this:

Very good stand. Does not touch paint:

Is there any reason it has to be a floor stand? My wife and I debated this and went wall. I don't regret the choice at all. The bike doesn't take up much usable space, is easy to hang, and is out of they way of pets, vacuums, and shorter kids.

I have a couple of these in our living room. Work well and not entirely ugly.

room (or justification) for fleet expansion. i'm using one on short nap carpet in a bonus room, no issues with tipping. cradles are padded, and spacing will accommodate a MTB suspension linkage.

Regarding the wall the landlord doesn't like it too much that I fix stuff on her century old walls. I still dared to do it once and nothing holds on them.

That's a good reason.

I've got a good floor stand I bought for similar reasons. I would sell cheap, but shipping may be expensive...

This stand was mentioned in a thread a while back, but I don't recall the title. I like the idea, but would want to figure out a way to coat the inside of the upright portion so as not to scratch the crankarm. White paint might help, too...

Superstand. I saw one in use at the LBS and bought on the spot. http://www.willworx.com/products.html

Wald Original Model should fit the brideless BB on your Corsa Extra (assuming it is 85 and newer frame)...sorry, couldn't resist.

But seriously, your partner is letting you display/store your Merckx in the living room?

I use this. Cheap. Moveable. Takes little space. Easily carry four bikes. I rest the bikes on their saddles, not different from coffee shop breaks. Even stable enough to do basic maintenance while resting on them.
