NASA is about to re-broadcast the video from the first Apollo moon landing on 7/20/1969. I feel old because I remember it well, I even went into our backyard and took a picture of the moon as it was happening.
Yes, I'm a nerd and yes, old.

I just read an article that reminded me of the communion Neil Armstrong took just before he left the lunar module. Interesting that the moon landing is being replayed. Some amazing things occurred through the space program. Bureaucracy and liability concerns would prevent a repeat, I'm sure.

Would have been better if you had lived next to Universal Studios.

besides being flight qualified for the space program, aldrin/armstrong actually used one of their issued speedmasters to time EVA activity while on the moon -- one of their official mission timers wasnt working properly.

the iconic speedmaster played an even bigger role in the ill-fated apollo 13 mission and was used to hand-time the course-adjustment burn that allowed the crew to return safely to earth.

Gasman, I remember that night as well. I was over at a friend's in Vienna VA and we both went into her back yard and looked at the moon when the TV news said Armstrong was there. Unfortunately it was cloudy and overcast and we didn't see the moon that night. I was 15, so I'm old now too.

A friend of mine posted this picture on Facebook yesterday. It took me a second to get it but it's really powerful when you think about it.

Took me a minute too. But of course, there's also a fair bit of Earth not showing. Just to be literal.

I stumble like that sometimes. It took me weeks to get the joke in the name when the Juan Pelota cafe opened at Mellow Johnny's bike shop.
