Here's an oddity - craters in my tire

Doubt they're anything to worry about. Just have never seen anything like them before.

Hm ok. Never had Continentals before so never seen these. Well that's simply enough resolved.

Wear indicators like these are limited to tires - many rims now have brake wall wear indicators, like this one on a Pacenti rim:
