Does anyone own an Acorn medium saddle bag? I'm looking for something other than my jersey pockets to stash a rain jacket and other small items on longer rides. Is the medium bag intrusive when pedaling? Just wondering if it rubs your legs when spinning. How is the capacity? Danke!

Why yes I do have one.

Nice bags, as I have tried others and come back to this brand, along with Frost River.

No problems with rubbing, the capacity allows for rain wear, tools and binoculars. I usually carry a tube as well.

I currently run it on my Bilenky and it goes well with the scheme.

The only thing I have not enjoyed about this bag is the acquisition process. I tried for a couple of months before I was able to purchase mine.

Thanks for the information and the Frost bags mention. Those look interesting too.

I own one. Very nice bags. Never had a rub problem.

I have two Acorn medium-large bags, a tan one with no side pockets and a black one with the pockets. Neither of them rub my legs when pedaling. Both will hold a lot more gear than a typical saddle bag. I might consider selling the tan Acorn bag without the side pockets if you are interested. I'm somewhat of a saddlebag junkie.

Dawgie,

Thanks for the pics. They represent the size of the bag well. I may consider your offer of the tan one, but probably prefer to have side pockets. PM me if you want with a price.

Side pockets are minimal, but a great place for the cell phone or a thin wallet.

My only irritation on initial setup was the extra length from the seatpost strap, and the associated buckle, brushing my right inner thigh. Was able to adjust it to be a non-factor. Thinking on it, it would seem capital to thread the strap and buckle to the inside of the bag, in a manner similar to that used for the hanger straps.

dawgie's bags above are the new medium-large…the older style medium had flush zippered side pockets and was, of course, smaller…I have a few of those and they hold enough for anything short of cc touring…IMHO.

I go through Duluth, MN once a week during the summer. Frost River bags are made at their retail location in that city.

I have a "bag" issue as well and I recently purchased the Sawbill, Caribou and Echo Trail bags. The Sawbill and Caribous went on my John Hollands for a recent trip, while I put the Echo Trail saddle bag on an old Bob Brown mtb I blast around on up at the cabin.

These bags are all overbuilt and compare favorably with their Acorn counterparts. Lots of capacity, well built/designed and kind of classy looking if you are into that sort of thing.

Hopefully not getting off topic, but how do you like the Sawbill? I was looking for a smaller bag to strap on my handlebars for century+ rides. That bag looks to be a good size for it.

Can't go wrong for $50.

Tough and plenty of room for stuff.
