Wow! what a spectacular weather weekend here in the NYC area. low humidity and 80's, just about perfect.

spent a lot of the weekend relaxing with family and BBQ'ing. Got out early saturday morning for what turned into a sufferfest for me. rode from my place out to greenwood lake, overskyline drive in ringwood NJ, for whatever reason, i was hurting.

Out of nowhere, about 25 miles from home, a nice gentleman on a beautiful Serotta appeared on my route and dragged my butt along for 5-6 miles. it was really a pleasure to have some help on the road at that point, and that guy was my weekend hero. after that, all the motivation i needed was the thought of a cooler full of ice cold beer waiting when i got home. it's no too often i drink a beer in the shower, but saturday was one of those days.

got cleaned up and took the war horse out to ride over a few miles to a family BBQ. great weekend!

Nice. I drink in the shower every morning. No really though that's a funny story.

I rode my beater MTB early in the morning investigating some new area in the hills around my place. It was really fun and the pedals you suggested work great. I picked up some close out Teva MTB shoes to compliment them.

Later I did 25 miles on my road bike and road a local grade with everything I had. I started to bonk on the way home but it was a short ride so seeing stars was ok on this day.

Other than getting the shakes, had a blast.
It was nice to ride some hills, kind of flat where I live.

I spent 7 hours mowing on Friday, got about half done. I was supposed to ride in IA City on Saturday, but that got rained out. Sunday was humid, windy, and about 90 degrees, so of course that was the day I finally got out to ride. Rode over to a friend's house and cajoled him into riding on his day off the bike. I wanted him along to help me plan a route for a future forum get-together, as he knows the roads in the eastern part of the county better than I do. I played with the 4 greyhounds (see one in window) while he finished mowing. He dragged me around the hills in the big bend area of the IL river valley for 40 miles before we split up for home. Sorry no ride pics as my friend is so much faster that I didn't want to hold him up any more than I already was. We rode some beautiful rolling hills though, 73 miles total for me.

Thank you! And yes, I feel ridiculously spoiled living in the Bay Area. We're fortunate to be able to ride brevets year-round.

Great holiday weekend to ride and celebrate our freedom and living in the best country on earth

Was able squeeze in 120 miles (over 3 days) in the early mornings before
the temps went into the 90's each day.

Loving the new C40 wheels which Nooch had shipped timely to get them to me for the long weekend :)

Hiked Saddle Mountain with my two oldest on the 4th - It's a new tradition of ours... every Fourth, every male over the age of 7 will go up ye ol' Mount of Saddle. It wasn't a particularly clear day, yet we had great views of our 5 major glaciated peaks to the east, and the Pacific Ocean out to the west.. 2,072' of gain, sayeth Strava.

Summit pic... I think I startled the boys with my manhowl

Stopped and got fireworks on the way back... blew stuff up for a couple hours, then rode/walked down to a bluff overlooking the river, where the city blows off the big ones... great day

No ride pics.... but Saturday, I went out solo for a little 50-something miler... nabbed a KOM I've coveted hard for a long time (thanks, tailwind!), climbed 3,248', saw some beautiful countryside I hadn't previously ridden, and made it back in time to read my kids a bedtime story and smooch on the wife.

Great weekend!

It was nothing short of glorious in northern Vermont this weekend past. Sorry I'm late to the photo party, but here's my shot, heading north through Charlotte looking easterly towards the green mountains. First cutting is baled.

Well, not that far off.... about 35 miles, over closer to Lake Champlain. The road is a north-south road called Mt. Philo Rd. which runs from North Ferrisburgh to Shelburne. BTW, at the Ferrisburgh/Charlotte border is Mt Philo State Park, which has wonderful views across the valley, and.... a paved road to the top. Its about a mile up. grades hit 20%. quite a workout ! :)
