When did colnago change to a bigger tubeset, I've had a skinny tubed master but the newer seem to have a bigger tubing. Anyone know when this bigger size came out?

From 2009 Gilco is not more the Colnago tubing supplier, probably the tubes are made by Dedacciai.
I don't know if also the diameter is changed, but the weight is sensible lighter.

Ya sure it's a 'Master' and not a 'Tecnos', which had shaped tubes similar to 'Master' series but bigger?

Ah, that is Gilco on your '80s one. I think yours looks to be mid 80's?

I have one all blue, very similar to yours and yes the tubing is different gauge. Gilco

i believe that happened when they went to the master-x-light generation (now called the master). slightly OS downtube, bigger chainstays, etc.

DT difference is minor, like +2mm OD. bigger difference is chainstays, they're much larger and taller.

my x light is definitely a bit more oversized than that of the older masters.
it brands a Columbus Gilco sticker too.

The x light was made stil with Gilco tubes.the new is simply the master, and the tubing label says "tubi speciali master".the new master is lighter then the x-light.
I've both.

In always shocked at the tubing diameter difference between my Colnago with crimped SL tubing and my Tommasini with ELOS tubes. The chainstays on the colnago look like toothpicks in comparison. The. UT cranks don't help manners.

Velo Pasadena.

The owner (former jr nat champ of Armenia) has a great bike collection hanging from the ceiling. Almost every notable Colnago from the last 30 years, a 50th Anniversary Paramount and a mint RS.
