Was ready to pull the trigger on a 2004 Marcelo std geo 55 until i realized the rear triangle would not accommodate a 20mm wide wheel with a 25mm Michelin prorace4 tire. Plenty of clearance at brake bridge and enough in chain stays but would not clear the ST. FD clamp wasn't an issue as it contacted the post b4 it ever got to the clamp.

CS measured a little under 40.5cm from BB center to dropout center as advertised in all geo charts.

Side note. The seller was moving the F/F to make room for his 2014 Marcelo 55. The CStay measured 41.50cm which allowed plenty of clearance for the tires with 20 or 23mm rims.

Researching back 10 years or so show std geo Marcelo CSs spec'd at 40.50 and i can find no info on a spec change. Does anyone here have any info on a change or inconsistencies in production of these frames?

I suggest you contact Gita (the distributor), Above Category Cycles or Bikyle.com, two of the larger volume retailers.

Not the exact frame, but I crossed off Pegs from the possible list because of tire clearance issues. Search here and the web for stories of owners having difficulty fitting 25s. There is a quote from Dario to the effect of "why would anyone put 25s on a race bike?!"

25s work fine on my Marcelo (its a big one though - 62 cm). I bet I can get 27s in there too.

In 2012, Dario switched to larger tubing that included head tube, down tube and seat tube and the new Falz fork.
I don't know of any changes on earlier models

haven't tried a prorace4 in 25, but don't michelin 25's typically measure around 28? at least my old prorace2's did.

I got 26.6 on 20's and mid to high 27's on HED 23s

Obviously some variance in construction here, custom frame perhaps…

My Duende easily fits 25 mm Michelin PR3's on HED Belgium rims. And yes, they're wider than 25 mm...

Used 25mm on my 6 year old Big Leg Emma.
No issues.

My prorace 4s on HED Belgium rims measure just a hair under 28mm at 100lbs pressure.

Hard to tell for sure but the Columbus Duende seem to have beefier CS, than my x-dedaccai Duende. Of course this does not factor in artistic (dimensional) variation.

Yup, I faced this with my 2011 Marcelo. Built it up with a set of Hed Ardennes and Pro Race 4/25's. Noticed that Rear was juuuuust touching the rear brake bridge. Wrote Dario and he said "it is simple, it is a race bike built for 23mm tires". I went ahead and rode it 2-3 more times and a bit of wear caused the tire to clear nicely and have had them on ever since. Lovely ride.
