I guess this is helpful if you live in an area where hang gliders are chronically crashing into cyclists mid-sprint. I'm pretty sure no car would ever see the reflective bits on this thing.

This. Also, I bought Cole Haan reflective shoes for the wow factor - not necessarily to be seen by cars crossing streets.

Adding a reflective surface to a saddle probably took very little r&d time/money but it looks like it got the job done. Chatter will probably increase during early stage team bike coverage.
