Thought I'd start it out.

Shralping the single-track with my 9 y.o. Thanks to buddy Colin for the pic.

Rare cloudy/cool/dry summer weekend for NC... 100 on Saturday, half of it with a fellow forumite, who helped me snag a KOM I'd been chasing for a while...

Today I dug out my Blur and went mountain biking for the first time in...3 years? Had a blast. The local trail (5 miles away) has been much improved since the last time I was there.

80 miles on the C & O Canal towpath on Sunday. 0 cars ride! Tested this out as an endurance ride option and was very pleasantly surprised. After you get about 15-20 miles out (past Great Falls) there isn't hardly any traffic. Kind of annoying to dodge all of the foot traffic, clueless people, dogs, kids, etc, but pretty manageable even on the weekend. Also a bit of a recon for a goal of riding to Cumberland in one very long day.

Sounds like a few great rides and some nice pics as well. I am jealous. I was on a 72 hour shift again this weekend and did not get a chance to ride.
Today, however is different…

My hardest ride ever on Saturday. The Alta Alpina double century near Markleeville, CA. After I rode it the first time in 2012 I said one and done, and yet I signed up last year and this year. Lack of sleep, fitness not where I wanted it to be and front shifting issues all day (Sram Force) led to me really thinking this might be the first double to DNF. I brought a compact double with 11-28 but should have used a triple like I did in 2012. What I saved in weight on the bike I paid for in shifting and closer gear inch ratios. I started 1/2 hour earlier at 3:30am (a mistake) and finished an hour later then the previous two years. But I finished for my 19th double since I started them in 2009.

Congratulations on muscling through.

I got in two rides while visiting my mother in San Antonio. Not having ridden for most of the last year, I really enjoyed the hilly terrain, but not the humidity!

Out Sunday in the heat and wind for ~35 miles, I usually cannot resist the views from this trail near Boulder...

Two great rides over the weekend with our local crew. Nothing like a couple hours cohesive of 2-up riding to appreciate the fruits of our labor. We've been hard working on developing our local Group Ride as a stable and predicable environment to enjoy each others company on a Sunday morning. As they say, it's a Group Ride with a capital G.

Congratulations. Big ride! We started at 330 as well - I'd say I saw you but it was dark and I fiddled with a light for a second so we didn't ride right in the 330 pack. I had a fun morning but realized I didn't feel like suffering into the night and stayed at lunch after 4 passes/11,000 feet. Most beautiful scenery on a ride I've ever seen. I'll be back to bag the double.

For those not familiar with this double, Bostic climbed over 20,000 feet on Saturday, hence the talk about a triple. Epic work.

(btw, when I tried to check in as a dnf, i was told "we don't have DNFs, you got 4 passes. Whatever...)
