View Full Version : Starting a new thread?

I am thinking about starting a new thread. What do you think?

I have an unreasonably expensive smartphone which would allow me to post a thread. What are your favorite kinds of threads?

Do you think I should start a thread on my smartphone or on my iPad.

Which cases are best for my smart phone? What types of threads are best?

Did you read your smartphone and iPad manual? I'm sure it explains how to start threads. Threads like these are the best. So if I understand correctly, you bought the best of the best but have no idea how it works? Are you that guy that posts on the Lamborghini forum and asked how to drive a stick?

I prefer mercerized cotton for most of my threads, although when I used to repair my own tubulars either the Velox thread or dental floss worked well. I haven't mastered repairing tubular with electronic devices yet, either phones or tablets....

I don't know any sort of needle that could be used to start a thread on a smartphone or iPad. At least not without breaking the glass or aluminum back. Perhaps if you super-glued the end of the threat to the phone or Ipad, it would be a good start.

Gluing sounds complicated. Do any of you use clinchers for your smartphone?

No need to start a new tread as I highly recommend readily available file-tread tires.... Oh wait, I think I missed something.

I think you should have to snipe at least five classified bro deals within 5 minutes of posting before you are allowed to post a new thread. If you have an expensive smartphone, four.

1/44 new thread to post ratio, says it all really!

Generally cotton. Specifically, Texas cotton. More specifically, organic Texas cotton that didn't use arsenic to strip the cotton fields of the leaves or whatever to harvest the boles. That would make good thread. Maybe I missed the point, or lack of.

I am now aiming for a 1/6 ratio as that appears to be the record. It's going to be tough but the next long weekend, I'll just post about another 1,100 new threads. Like a sweater, basically.

I prefer 3 ply at 330 threads per inch.

My wife bought some 1000 Thread Per Inch sheets. I have to tread lightly or I slide right out.

Maybe that was her intent....

People on the Copacabana beach
Some of those people are young ladies
Some of those young ladies are wearing threads

Due to some who frequent the forum I must leave the rest to your imagination, but I can provide this:

If you started the same thread across the hall, would someone walking down the hall trip over it?

I hate it when I run across something that was cross-threaded, and then I have to dig out a tap to start a new thread. Could someone tap on his or her phone or iPad and actually start a new thread?

You were definitely ahead of the curve there!

Somewhere I've got a 90's Sharp(?) unit that has a fold out ear piece that interfaced with a rotary/touch tone phone handset for modem use. It worked.

These days, it's moving too fast to keep up, but back then, this sh*t was revolutionary, at least in my mind.

Cool - some of those can last a really long time. That one may have been made for CI by Sharp. (at least it looks to me like a Sharp, but I may be wrong)

All the best Sci Fi movies retain, and build on, intact much of the previous generations technology. Think Alien, BladeRunner, 2001 A Space Odyssey. Star Trek and Star Wars.

In literature, there is the amazing "Foundation" series by Isaac Asimov. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundation_series

Speaking of the previous generation's technology...

Indeed.

Some of the sets for Bladerunner were filmed at the Ennis House in Los Angeles, CA. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, it provided the appropriate moody backdrop for Ridley Scotts 1982 classic.

Well, the shots taken in the Bradbury Building were some if the finest cinematic moments ever captured.

Rutger Hauers monologue at the end is so poignant and touching:

I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe...

Classic.

There's antiseptic sci-fi and there's grunge sci-fi

I think grunge is scarier. 2001: A Space Odyssey vs Aliens
