Some lowlife cleaned out the Michigan Special Olympics cycling team. Beyond maddening. I volunteered at the national Special Olympics games for cycling and tri last week and was googling for some videos when I found this. You can't believe how inspiring these athletes are and how much the cycling means to them and contributes to their development. There's a GoFundMe link if you're so inclined, or spread to your cycling sphere of influence.

Mods - please feel free to move to thefts thread, but I thought this was a little different in scope and social impact from a single bike theft. Thanks.

Wow, what a low life.
How do people like that live with themselves?

People like that have no thought for anyone else. They live with themselves because they only think about what they can get or steal.

Where is this fund?

Some people steal from the elderly and even their own family's too. A lot of desperate people out there probably needed a dope fix. But yeah that's despicable.

C'mon guys. Let's right this wrong. Everyone should have the chance to know the joy of riding a bike.

+1, donated. The amount they are raising is less than many of us probably paid for a single bike

Well, that's a new one, hauling away 8 tricycles in the booty. I can't imagine the trikes are being shipped elsewhere for stripping or resale, so chances are they will land very close to home, and the thieves may very well be caught.

Donated - thanks for bringing this up. Best of luck to the athletes.

Thanks for sharing this. My brother has competed in the Special Olympics (in RI) as long as I can remember, and I know it's always a very important experience for him. Every dollar helps.

A smart PR person from giantrekspecializedcannondale would be sending them a 15 new bikes right now...

I'm not sure who runs the Paceline Twitter account, but maybe we can get this tweeted (is that a word now?) out to the universe?

To quote Batman:

Let's show them that their city doesn't belong to the criminals and the corrupt!

Wow, that is extremely ····ty. Bike thieves already hold a special place on my list of things I abhor, but this is something else entirely.
