DT Swiss 36 Star Ratchet upgrade?

Anyone have experience to share regarding the value of the ratchet upgrade from 18T to 36T?

I did it, but do not notice any difference other than a substantial increase in hub noise --- I wouldn't do it again.

Did a few in the shop and during test ride, couldn't really tell any difference, ymmv.

...unless you are grinding up very technical steep hills on a mountain bike with lots of starts and stops in your pedal stroke, then you will not notice the difference. The 36 star simply increases engagement time, which on a road bike, is really not that important. Lou

As Lou says, no reason to do this on a road bike. On my mtb, I would do it every day of the week and twice on Wednesdays (that's when I do my night ride).

Recently upgraded my wheelset and I really don't notice a difference. It is definitely louder, but I actually like the noise. I remember reading somewhere that there is a 72 star ratchet upgrade as well - from Trek/Bontrager?
