Frivolous thread, but I'll at least ask a question.

Had to get more beer tonight. Did not want to drive, we try not to use the car at all when we are here. Walking would take too long, either by walking slower with the kids, or being away from the kids (treasure every moment!).

We forgot the small backpack I usually bring, a small camelback that would've held the beer. I decided against using the one backpack we do have with us - the diaper bag. Just wrong.

So I rigged this up. One Velcro strap, one webbing strap (redundancy, you know).

Best growler run ever - Baselayer Black Ale, in case you were wondering. And, no, it isn't rubbing on the tire - there is clearance.

How have you creatively carried beverages or, I guess, other gear on your bike on the spur of the moment?

That's very elegant compared to my experience. Years ago, I balanced a case on the handlebars when I got tired of trying to hold it under my arm.

I have a Surly Big Dummy. I can make some epic beer runs on that beast, but certainly not with the elegance of your rig! That's some great thinking with the seatpost mount! That bike is gorgeous as well.

Awesome, but the risk of breaking the precious nectar of the Gods..... you need a Growler Cage

What a refined solution! Nicely done.

This is old school, and doesn't work very well, but I always get a kick out of watching it.

I've done beer runs at the beach in Jersey with my trailer.... It was over kill for certain and encouraged over-purchasing and consumption. I'm glad the kid outgrew the trailer. Now, when at the shore, I use a Timbuktu messenger bag. They really are waterproof.

I carried a loose case in a giant timbuk 2 bag by balancing it on my top tube and pedaling bowlegged. I don't know why I thought I could possibly just carry it on my back, which is why I switched to the top tube balance.
