As the title suggests...

Also interested if shimano ultegra 6700 could be used instead of 7800 series chainrings...

Also would like to know if 7900 bb can be used in place of 7800 bb using 7800 cranks...

You could put 7900/6700 chain rings on 7800 crank arms, but it'd look very fugly. The crank arm interface of the 7900/6700 has more depth, while previous generations were shallower. You'd also need the torx chainring bolts as well, since it's specific to the crankarm/chainring interface. This applies to the outer chainring (be it 50, 52 or 53T). The inner chainring probably doesn't matter as much.

Why not stay with the 7800 chainrings? IME, they have been the smoothest front shifting experience I've had. Even the trickle down technology to the 4600 Tiagra crankset (where the 53T is modeled after the 7800 series chain-ring and on my backup bike) is butter smooth.

The BB is compatible. Second the ugly comments, but it will work.
