Col de la Madeleine

I decided it was finally time to ride Madeleine yesterday. A friend and I rode it from the Maurienne, via an exceptionally difficult but beautiful road cut into the side of the mountain (It goes via Montgellafrey, across the valley from the classic southern road for anyone interested).

Nice, I was sure that was an interesting road. The original way up the mountain so automatically more entertaining than the new road. Riding it just got pushed higher up the list.

Why can't we have roads like that here?

I'm sure you would like it hank. It seems a lot nicer than the classic southern road, judging from the descent (anyway, it shares the same finish). I guess I have to do the North side now.
