PSA: Gorilla Clear Tape

Stuff is fantastic for all manner of things around the house, bikes included. very tough, thick stuff, makes a great chain guard, and also little squares to prevent cable rub. few dollars for a roll and this stuff has a ton of great uses.

just taped up a few spots on my geekhouse where the powder coat was getting beat up from cable rub, perfect!

Strong enough to peel paint off? . I wouldn't mind getting some to prevent cable rubs and chain slaps.

no, not yet, but i've got a slab of it on the roof of my metal shed over a hole, that sees lots of direct sunlight. i'll keep an eye on it.

Be careful putting it on anything you may want to remove it from. I order bulk 3m clear bra off amazon. Its 10x the cost, but it is removable.

I use some ACE Hardware branded "plastic tape" to cover areas on my frames prone to rock chips, chain slap, crank rub, cable rub etc. Hasnt yellowed or taken off paint when removing or replacing. Its ~$9.00 for a big roll.

That's the question of the day.

I had some helicopter tape that did a cosmetic woopsie on one of my frames when I peeled it off to re-adjust the positioning of it on chainstay (it was my own fault, the somewhat delicate paint was only a few days old).

Strong enough to peel paint off?
