Guys, I'm stumped on this one and wondering if someone can offer some assistance.
I bought a set of new Reynolds DVs from a forum member about two weeks ago and just got around to trying them out on the rollers. I mounted a new set of Tufo S3 Lites (yes I know, I've already heard it before.... :crap: ) any how I get on the rollers and start riding.
Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick. Each revolution of the wheel causes a mechanical "tick" sound. It seems to be coming from the rear wheel on the drive side of the wheel. Pedalling or no pedaling I get the tick as long as I'm on the bike and the wheels are spinning. It is quite loud and audible despite the noise of the rollers and TV.
Ok to trouble shoot, I have checked the wheel for true and it is perfect. I have checked the hub while the wheel is both on and off the bike. It spins without the tick noise while I'm off the bike but I get the tick once I'm the bike. I've checked the rim itself and it looks perfect, no cracks or surface deformities. Finally, I can't tell exactly when or where in the wheel's revolution the sound comes on but it is definitely periodic and consistent.
Any guesses? Could it be the hub or bearings are bad? Could there be a crack in the CF that I don't see? Am I just a fat a**? Do you guys think these things are safe?
Thanks in advance.
